Dive the HMAS Swan

South West
The third HMAS Swan was a "River" class frigate laid down by the Williamstown Dockyard at Melbourne in Victoria on 16 February 1965, launched on 16 December 1967 and commissioned on 20 January 1970. On December 14th 1997, the HMAS SWAN ended her 26 years with the Australian Royal Navy. Her final resting place now lies in a bed of sand, in 30 metres of water, off the South West Coast of Western Australia in Geographe Bay, creating an artificial reef for corals and marine life. The SWAN has now become a popular dive site. There is an abundance of sea life taking advantage of the SWAN, making it their new home.

Valley Of The Giants Tree Top Walk

South West
The Valley of the Giants has long been one of the area's most popular tourist destinations. This famous area, now part of Walpole-Nornalup National Park, got its name from the large red tingle trees that are found there. It is the easternmost occurrence of this forest type, which is only found within 15 kilometres of Walpole. Also, it is the most popular destination for visitors to the Walpole district.

The Darling Range

Perth and Surrounds
The Darling Range is the tilted edge of a huge plateau that is the foundation of the South Western third of Australia. It is one of the most ancient places on earth; its granites and quartzite were formed some 2,500 million years ago. In this range, known locally as the Perth Hills lay the Shires of Mundaring and Kalamunda, and south along the range and in the foothills lay the heritage towns of Armadale, Gosnells, Serpentine and Jarrahdale.

Wave Rock

Golden Outback
The Wave on Hyden Rock is one of Australia's most famous landforms, a giant surf wave of multicoloured granite about to crash onto the bush below. Stand under it and feel rock power from over 2,700 million years ago, before dinosaurs roamed the earth! It is 14 metres high and 110m long. The shape of the wave is formed by gradual erosion of the softer rock beneath the upper edge, over many centuries. There are actually a number of examples of such "waves" in the Hyden area; it is well worth it to see some of the other smaller, but equally spectacular, ones.

Shark Bay

Coral Coast
The Shark Bay region is an area of major zoological importance, primarily due to habitats on peninsulas and islands being isolated from the disturbance that has occurred elsewhere. Of the 26 species of endangered Australian mammals, five are found on Bernier and Dorre Islands. These are the boodie or burrowing bettong, rufous hare wallaby, banded hare wallaby, the Shark Bay mouse and the western barred bandicoot.
